Nick Grimshaw completes 12 hour Sport Relief bike ride

Radio 1's Nick Grimshaw has completed a 12 hour bike ride for Sport Relief.

The DJ, along with other celebrities, cycled more than 1,000 miles and raised more than £115,000.

Grimshaw's ride is part of BBC Radio Around the World for Sport Relief, which will see BBC radio presenters run, swim and cycle a total of 25,000 miles, the circumference of the world.

Nick's leg of the challenge took place in a large, transparent box outside BBC Broadcasting House.

Having started during Grimshaw's Breakfast Show, the cycle finished during Greg James' Drive Time Show.

Speaking to Greg after the ride Nick said: "I'm never going on a bike, ever again. I'm going to burn my bike."

He was joined by fellow Radio 1 and 1Xtra presenters, as well as musicians, Olympic athletes and reality TV stars, during the day.

The likes of Example, Davina McCall and Rick Edwards were some of the guests to take part in the ride, which reached a total distance of 1,205 miles.

The DJ, 29, recently travelled to Kenya to see how some of the money raised by Sport Relief is spent.

Other celebrities including The 1975, Pixie Geldof and Danny Dyer have also taken part in the ride.

On Wednesday 19 March, Radio 2's Jo Whiley will run through the night in an attempt to run for 26 hours in the Perspex box.

Presenters from across BBC's radio network will also be taking part in the Sport Relief challenge.

BBC Radio Around the World for Sport Relief will be the first time that BBC national and local radio has teamed up for a Sport Relief challenge.
