The Vamps

The Vamps have been voted this year's Brand New for 2014 by MTV viewers.

The pop rock band topped the channel's annual list of acts predicted to be successful in the next 12 months.

The BBC's Sound of 2014 winner, Sam Smith, finished in fourth place with Elyar Fox, Ella Eyre and Royal Blood making up the rest of the top five.

The Vamps' debut single, Can We Dance, entered the chart at number two and their debut album is out later this year.

The group - made up of Connor Ball, Tristan Evans, James McVey and Bradley Simpson - have opened concerts for McFly, Taylor Swift and Selena Gomez and are the opening act on The Wanted's Word of Mouth tour in the UK and Ireland.

They will also be supporting McBusted in London's Hyde Park in July.

The band came to prominence on YouTube after uploading covers of chart hits.

Ebony Day topped the 2013 MTV Brand New poll.

The singer beat Angel Haze, Tom Odell, Kodaline and Gabrielle Aplin to claim the prize.
