The 2013 Rugby League World Cup kicks off on Saturday as England play Australia at Cardiff's Millennium stadium.
The tournament is taking place across England, Wales, Ireland and France over the next four weeks.
In all, 14 countries are competing, with eight teams qualifying for the quarter-finals from four groups.
The final takes place at Old Trafford in Manchester on 30 November.
There has been criticism of the tournament's ever-changing format and doubts over whether rugby league can find popularity beyond its Yorkshire, Lancashire and Cumbrian heartlands.
England full-back Sam Tomkins has been preparing for Saturday's opener by interviewing team-mate Lee Mossop for Newsbeat.
