Joseph Gordon-Levitt: Site doesn't 'rip off' users

24 October 2013 Last updated at 11:28 BST

Joseph Gordon-Levitt has denied a website he created is an easy way to profit from other people's ideas.

The actor is behind, an open collaborative website that allows users to upload their own as well as edit other peoples material.

The 32-year-old, whose films include The Dark Knight Rises and Inception, created the company with his brother Dan Gordon-Levitt, who died in October 2010.

Users of the site get a 50/50 split from any profit made from their work being sold.

Joseph Gordon-Levitt was speaking to Newsbeat's entertainment reporter Nesta McGregor.
