Fans have been telling Newsbeat what happened to Justin Bieber when he became unwell during his London gig.

The Canadian singer suffered from breathing difficulties, lying motionless on stage after one routine.

After seeking help from doctors, he returned to complete the evening's set.

Later on Thursday night, the 19-year-old tweeted: "Getting better. Thanks for everyone pulling me thru tonight. best fans in the world. figuring out what happened. thanks for the love."

He was criticised earlier in the week for delaying his show. He put his late arrival down to technical difficulties.

"I think it was good of him to perform," said Charlotte, 15 and Lottie, 14. "He's really dedicated to his fans.

"They played some music for a bit and then Scooter [Braun, his manager] and Jaden Smith came on and explained the situation and apologised."

Unlike on Monday night, where the delay resulted in the crowd booing, this time fans say they cheered while they waited for him to come back on to perform.

"If someone's ill, they can't really help it," said Amy and Faye from Essex. "No-one's going to be mad at him for being ill. It happens."

Katie Mehmet, 21, from London was also impressed that he returned to the stage.

"He was really decent," he said. "He was brilliant.

"He came back out and finished the show perfectly. He was really good."

Speaking about the headlines this week, she added: "Everyone's giving him a hard time but he has never done anything bad before. This is the first thing.

"He was late, fair enough, and everyone is making it like the crime of the century."

Although it has been suggested that Justin Bieber should not have returned to the stage, Katie does not entirely agree.

"He's in the industry," she said. "It's going to be too much.

"There are going to be times he wants to be left alone but he wanted to be famous and he's got what he's given."
