Supermodel Heidi Klum to judge on America's Got Talent

Supermodel and TV host Heidi Klum has announced she will be part of the new judging panel on America's Got Talent.

She will join comedian Howie Mandel, DJ Howard Stern and singer Mel B.

"Excited 2 join @HowardStern @howiemandel @OfficialMelB & @NickCannon on @nbcagt as new judge! Will be so fun," she tweeted yesterday.

The nationwide auditions started on Monday in New Orleans, with all kinds of performers invited to compete for the $1m top prize.

"As we look to develop an act that will get the world's attention, we and the contestants will benefit from Heidi's international sensibility and understanding of what works in today's global entertainment industry," said NBC president of alternative programming, Paul Telegdy, in a statement.

Former Spice Girl Mel B had already been confirmed for the line-up, replacing Sharon Osborne, who has left the show.

America's Got Talent hosted by Nick Cannon is one of Simon Cowell's television talent shows, which also include The X Factor, Britain's Got Talent and Food Glorious Food.

Heidi Klum, 39, also hosts fashion shows Project Runway and Germany's Next Top Model.
