Bryan Singer has revealed that he was his own second choice to direct the latest film in the X-Men franchise.

Singer had wanted Matthew Vaughn to return after his successful handling of X-Men: First Class in 2011 but when Vaughn was unable to, Singer took the directing job himself.

Bryan Singer also discussed the possibility of the old and young versions of characters Magneto and Professor X meeting in the new movie, as well as revealing he's thinking about remaking film epic The Ten Commandments.

The director's next film to be released is the fairytale Jack the Giant Slayer.

He was talking to Newsbeat entertainment reporter Natalie Jamieson.

Jack The Giant Slayer is released in the UK on 22 March.
