Radio 1 DJ Fearne Cotton has given birth to her first child, a son she has named Rex.

She and partner Jesse Wood confirmed the baby's arrival on Twitter.

"Jesse and I are over the moon to announce the arrival of Rex Rayne Wood born on the 21.2.13 beyond in love," she wrote on the social networking site on Thursday.

The presenter went on maternity leave from her mid-morning Radio 1 show at Christmas last year.

Since then Sara Cox has been hosting the show from 10am-12.45pm.

She has also taken time out from her television work, with Kelly Brook replacing her on the next series of ITV2's Celebrity Juice.

The 31-year-old has been dating Jesse Wood, the son of Rolling Stones star Ronnie Wood, since 2011.

He has two children, Arthur and Lola, from his marriage to Tilly Wood.

And Celebrity Juice presenter Leigh Francis, or Keith Lemon as he's known on the show, wrote: "@Fearnecotton you're gonna be an ace mum. Lotsa love. Congrats t' ya both, all 3 of you! All of us hurrrraaah!"
