A live stream set up by Justin Bieber to run at the same time as the Grammys ceremony has crashed after it was overloaded by users logging on.

The singer was not nominated at the music awards and instead set up the internet feed so he could answer questions from fans.

"I'm on a vacation, that's one of the reasons I have really slow internet," he said in an online apology to fans.

The singer appeared shirtless in the video he made after the stream failed.

It also featured his younger brother and sister, who he said had joined him on holiday.

During the recording he also played a new song called You Want Me which he said on Twitter is "not finished" yet.

When the Grammy nominations were announced in December 2012, Justin Bieber's manager said the board "blew it" when the singer was failed to be recognised in any of the categories.

"I just plain DISAGREE. The kid deserved it," Scooter Braun tweeted.

"The kid delivered. Huge successful album, sold out tour, and won people over."

However, 18-year-old Bieber won three prizes, including artist of the year, at last year's American Music Awards.

His third album, Believe, was released in June, and sold 374,000 copies in its first week on sale in the US.

The Canadian pop star also made US chart history earlier this month after becoming the youngest artist ever to have five chart-topping albums in the US.

The 18-year-old singer's latest album, Believe Acoustic, topped the Billboard 200, selling 211,000 copies in its first week.
