Martin Freeman defends turning Hobbit into a trilogy

Martin Freeman has defended the decision to turn the story of the Hobbit into a trilogy.

In the films, Freeman plays Bilbo Baggins, a hobbit who embarks on a journey with wizard Gandalf and a group of dwarves to reclaim their homeland from the dragon Smaug.

The actor was speaking to Newsbeat's entertainment reporter Natalie Jamieson.

The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey is released in the UK on 14 December.
