Eminem will headline Reading and Leeds in 2013

Eminem will headline Reading and Leeds in 2013, his only UK festival appearances of next year.

The rapper is the first main stage headliner to be confirmed for the event, which takes place between Friday 23 and Sunday 25 August.

Last month Alt-J, Sub Focus and Deftones were among the first artists announced to play the festivals.

The event will increase the amount of music on offer in 2013 with the addition of new stages.

Eminem first headlined Reading and Leeds 11 years ago. His most recent UK festival appearance came at V Festival in 2011.

This year 87,000 fans at Reading's Richfield Avenue site and 75,000 at Leeds' Bramham Park saw performances from headliners Foo Fighters, The Cure and Kasabian.
