Jake Bugg says he is "baffled" by the success of his debut album, which went straight into the chart at number one.

The 18-year-old from Nottingham will headline the opening parties of Mallorca Rocks and Ibiza Rocks in June 2013, having played the same shows with Ben Howard this summer.

Previous headliners include Biffy Clyro, Plan B and Ed Sheeran.

Jake became the youngest British male to debut at number one when his self-titled album was released in October.

"It's something that I would have liked to have happened, but I never thought it would," he said.

"I was baffled when it did, I just wasn't expecting it. I didn't know what was going to happen when it was released."

'2013 on the road'

After playing Ibiza and Mallorca this year, Jake is looking forward to a return and isn't worried the islands are so closely linked to dance music.

"I thought it would be lots of people up for dancing and clubs and that, but I was quite surprised to see how many people were getting into it," he said.

In June, Jake told Newsbeat it would be "wicked" to jam with Noel Gallagher.

He's now been on tour across the US with the former Oasis man, and expects to spend most of 2013 on the road.

"I'd never been out of the UK before this year, so it's great to see so many parts of the world," he added.

Ibiza Rocks takes place every Wednesday from 5 June to 19 September 2013, with Mallorca Rocks gigs on Tuesdays from 4 June to 18 September.
