Are men or women safer on the roads?

From December 21, insurance firms in the UK will not be allowed to discriminate based on gender.

There's a warning that this will mean young women having to pay more for car insurance.

It is after a ruling by a European Court that it is illegal to charge men more.

In the past, women have benefited from cheaper cover because they tend to have fewer and less serious accidents.

Newsbeat asked drivers in Southampton whether they thought women or men were safer behind the wheel.
