Zoe Kazan says that more original and complex films need to be made in Hollywood.

The actress, 29, wrote and stars in new indie film Ruby Sparks.

The film follows a writer who creates a fictional character who then comes to life.

Kazan also discusses working with Avengers director Joss Whedon on the sci-fi film In Your Eyes.

The actress was speaking to Newsbeat's entertainment reporter Natalie Jamieson.

Ruby Sparks is released in the United Kingdom on 12 October.
