Rihanna to play at MTV Video Music Awards 2012

Rihanna is the latest big name to be announced for September's MTV Video Music Awards.

Best new artist nominee Frank Ocean will also perform alongside previously announced acts like One Direction, Taylor Swift and Green Day.

The Wanted and Ke$ha have also been added to the line-up of presenters on the night.

The MTV VMAs take place on Friday 7 September at the Staples Centre in Los Angeles.

Rihanna is up for five awards including the main prize, video of the year, for We Found Love.

Her collaboration with Drake, Take Care, is also competing in the same category.

One Direction are in the running in two categories, best new artist and best pop video.
