DJ and producer Deadmau5 has said he plans to take some time off from his busy work schedule.

The Canadian, whose real name is Joel Zimmerman, said he wouldn't cancel any gigs or stop releasing music but said he needed to "unplug for a wee bit".

On his Tumblr he wrote: "I'm just gunna slam on the breaks for a bit and force myself to endure some quiet time."

He confirmed he would continue to write and that any scheduled new releases would not be affected.

In his blog post he continued: "I got a lot of work to do on some stuff. So it's best I just chill out a bit and just get it done, and get it done right until I'm 100% satisfied with it.

"Then our regularly scheduled program shall continue. I'm basically pretty miserable right now and need to pull back and figure out whatever it is I do."

His next scheduled gig is in Riccione, Italy, on 24 August before he plays Creamfields festival in Cheshire on 26 August.

Currently one of the biggest names in electronic dance music, Deadmau5 first had success with tracks like I Remember and Ghosts 'n' Stuff.
