Lower Than Atlantis have announced details of their forthcoming third album and a new headline UK tour.

The album, their first to be released by a major record label, is called Changing Tune and will be come out on 17 September.

The Watford rockers will also head out on a headline UK tour beginning on 1 October in Exeter.

Support on the tour will come from Don Broco, The Dangerous Summer and Transit.

Album 'freedom'

Speaking to Newsbeat lead singer Mike Duce said the band had welcomed the financial backing they'd received from signing to Island Records for the new album.

"Up until now we were paying for everything ourselves out of our own pocket," said Duce.

"Any money we made from the band we ploughed back in. Everything was done on a budget.

"With this album, it was the first time we were in a residential studio. We were living there. You could wake up at 3am and be like, 'I've got this cool idea' wake everyone up and go in to record. The possibilities are endless."

The band were speaking to Newsbeat after they performed on the second stage at this year's Download festival (10 June).

Their new tour dates are:

Exeter Phoenix - 1 October

Southampton Mo'Club - 2

Bristol Trinity - 3

Nottingham Rescue Rooms - 4

Glasgow Garage - 5

Manchester Club Academy - 7

Norwich Arts Centre - 8

Birmingham Academy 2 - 9
