Gary Barlow says the Queen's Jubilee concert - which he helped arrange - will be an "incredible" experience.

The Take That songwriter said: "The stage is up now [at Buckingham Palace], the seating is up, it's massive.

"From today you will hear music coming from the stage because most of the acts are rehearsing."

The concert, on Monday 4 June, features the likes of Jessie J, Ed Sheeran, and JLS. Gary helped put together the show and also co-wrote a special song.

Over 200 people will be on stage to perform the track outside Buckingham Palace on Monday.

Gary said he co-wrote the song with Lord Lloyd Webber, with the famous composer coming up with the verse and him contributing the chorus.

Speaking to Chris Moyles, he also described how he flew around the world to record people from the Commonwealth countries to feature on the recorded version.

"I literally had one laptop, a pair of headphones and a mic.

"I was travelling around the world - I've got this guitarist, how am I going to use him and fit him into the track?

Gary's travels took to him places like the Blue Mountains in Australia and the slums of Kenya.

He admitted though that not all of his contributors were quite up to scratch.

'Awful'

"Obviously there were some people that we travelled half the way around the world for and then thought what are we doing here?

"It was six hours from Nairobi to see the Maasai [tribe in Kenya], we got there and met them and it was all looking brilliant, they looked the part.

"Then they started to sing and it was awful."

The Take That singer also revealed that he enjoyed the anonymity of travelling to countries where he isn't recognised.

His journey to gather voices for the song is told in a BBC One programme - Gary Barlow - On Her Majesty's Service, which goes out on 3 June at 7.30pm

When the Jubilee concert is over Gary says he's got no time to rest because he'll be on X Factor duties.

"Put it this way, I come off stage at the Jubilee, drive to Manchester and start Tuesday morning."
