Alexandra Burke says she understands the need for airbrushing on magazines
Singer Alexandra Burke says she understands the criticism about celebrities being airbrushed in magazines.
The 23-year-old says "as a normal person" she can understand the need for pictures of stars who have had "a rough day" to be altered.
Her comments come after a report by MPs which found two thirds of people are unhappy with the way they look.
The report claims the problem is the largest cause for bullying in schools.
Alexandra Burke said: "Just as a normal person I don't mind the odd airbrushing so long as it's not taken too far."
The former X Factor winner was recently ridiculed on some websites for an outfit she wore while performing with soul singer Dionne Warwick at a charity event.

But Burke says she stays away from negative comments in the press and online.
"I don't read anything in the press," she said. "I don't see anything mean and sometimes I don't see anything positive."
The report from the MPs also criticises the "excessive use of airbrushing" in magazines and adverts.
"I mean it's one thing perfecting, maybe a couple of spots on your face if you're having a rough day, but then there's one thing changing your complete image, that's what I won't stand for," the star added.
"But I don't think it's a crime, if it's not done too much."
She urged her fans to believe in themselves if they were worried about the way they look.
"At the end of the day, everyone's different, everyone's unique," she said.
"We all have different body shapes and sizes, embrace what God has given you, because at the end of the day there is only one you."
