Justin Bieber was born on 1 March, 1994. His mother, Pattie Mallette, raised him in Ontario, Canada. They were photographed together at the 2011 Country Music awards.
Bieber was discovered at the age of 13 after uploading videos to YouTube of himself singing. Usher signed the young singer to his record label in 2008.
Usher went on to mentor Bieber, and the pair performed together at the Grammy Awards in 2011.
Bieber's debut single One Time was released in 2009 and reached number 11 in the UK singles chart. His biggest hit to date is Baby, which reached the top five in both the UK and the US.
Bieber has a dedicated fanbase who often turn up to his promotional appearances. Many British fans turned up to meet the singer during his first visit to Radio 1.
Bieber won the Brit award for international breakthrough act at the 2011 ceremony.
Last year, the singer appeared in Never Say Never - a film which documented Bieber's preparation for his biggest concert to date at Madison Square Garden. The movie was a box office hit both in the UK and the US.
The singer was interviewed by Radio 1 DJ Fearne Cotton in December 2010.
In December, Bieber sang with US President Barack Obama and his family during the filming of Christmas In Washington.
Bieber will release a new single - Girlfriend - on 26 March. The song was co-written by Mike Posner and is taken from Justin's upcoming third album, Believe.
