Dizzee Rascal released new material on his official website earlier this week
Dizzee Rascal has described his forthcoming fifth album as being "a bit more worldly, but still fun".
The rapper, who recently returned from working on material in Los Angeles, said: "I've spent more time on this one than I have the other ones. I'm relaxing.
"I've never had this much time off to just make an album at my leisure."
The 27-year-old rapper released his most recent album Tongue N' Cheek in 2009.
Dizzee was speaking to Newsbeat before he presented Florence & The Machine with a prize at the Elle Style Awards in London.
"Having a year off to just chill, have a year off and have fun, not have to worry about was what I needed to do. No pressure," he said.
"I went to LA for a holiday but I started bumping into people, started getting in the studios and ended up staying out there for three weeks."
The rapper, whose real name is Dylan Mills, topped the UK singles chart for the first time in 2008 with Dance Wiv Me, a collaboration with Calvin Harris.

"I was on the phone to Calvin Harris the other day - we'll see if he can come up with something," he confirmed.
"There's also a video that's coming in a couple of weeks for a track I've done with a guy called DJ Muggs.
"He's the producer in Cypress Hill. He made Jump Around, Insane In The Brain… all them big classics. We got a track called Snap Your Neck Back. It's big."
Dizzee also praised the achievements of Adele who won six Grammy Awards on Sunday.
"It's good for her and good for UK music. It's wicked to be able to go over and do that.
"Obviously at one stage we were label mates and I saw her when she'd just signed. The way she's rocketed it up now - it's brilliant. It's real, it's natural."
Dizzee Rascal has had UK number ones with tracks such as Dirtee Disco, Holiday and Bonkers.
