Adam Levine from Maroon 5 has signed Glee star Matthew Morrison to his new record label.

The singer, who is also a coach on US TV talent show The Voice, is launching the new label called 222 later this year.

Matthew Morrison, who plays Will Schuester in Glee, is the first artist to be signed to 222.

His new album will be the follow-up to his self-titled debut which was released last year.

Adam Levine said: "Starting my own label has been a long-time goal of mine, and I am thrilled to be at the point in my career where it is finally happening.

"Great things are in store for [Morrison] with this release," he added.

Maroon 5's most recent single Moves Like Jagger, a duet with Christina Aguilera, reached number two in the UK singles chart last year.

The new series of The Voice launched in America on Sunday, with Aguilera and Levine on the coaching panel alongside Cee Lo Green and country music singer Blake Shelton.

Matthew Morrison is set to appear alongside Cameron Diaz and Jennifer Lopez in What to Expect When You're Expecting, which will be in cinemas in May.
