Rihanna Rihanna had the most listened to song on Facebook with We Found Love

Rihanna has topped a list of the most popular music artists on Facebook during 2011.

The singer beat Avril Lavigne into third place with a page for reggae singer Bob Marley coming second in a rundown of the fastest-growing pages and most shared media of the year.

Rihanna, 23, also had the most listened to song with We Found Love, her number one single featuring Calvin Harris.

Megan Fox was most popular actress with David Beckham fifth in the sports list.

Elsewhere, the death of Osama Bin Laden was the top global topic on the social networking site with the Royal Wedding, Charlie Sheen, the death of Amy Winehouse and Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 also in the top 10.

The Royal Wedding was top of people's status updates in the UK according to the Memology rundown with the summer riots and reality show The Only Way Is Essex in second and third.

A set of satellite pictures from before and after the tsunami in Japan earlier this year was the most shared news article of the year.

Barcelona player Lionel Messi was the most popular sports star followed by Real Madrid's Cristiano Ronaldo and WWE Universe wrestler John Cena.

Harry Potter topped the film chart and US show House was the most popular TV programme.
