The cast of Sherlock Holmes joined director Guy Ritchie for the world premiere of the movie in Leicester Square. Old-fashioned street lamps and smog were brought in for the event to recreate Victorian London.
-
Robert Downey Junior plays Sherlock Holmes in the film, which is based on Arthur Conan Doyle's original books. He says the movie has more comedy: "Guy's got a pretty good sense of humour so it kind of found its way into the script a little bit".
-
Jude Law takes on the role of Holmes' sidekick Dr Watson. He described director Guy Ritchie as "the father to the two wayward sons".
-
Wedding Crashers actress Rachel McAdams plays Irene Adler, Holmes' love interest. She was very complimentary about working with Robert Downey Junior, saying: "He's such a talent and so fun to watch. He really keeps you on your toes. He's so creative."
-
Guy Ritchie will be hoping for a better reception than he received for his last movies RockNRolla and Swept Away, which got mixed reviews. When asked if there would be a sequel he said it would depend how well the first film does.
-
Gwen Stefani was joined by husband Gavin Rossdale on the red carpet. The film includes scenes shot at St Paul's Cathedral, the Houses of Parliament and Liverpool Docks.
-
Heather Graham, who's recently starred in The Hangover and Baby On Board, was also at the premiere. Sherlock Holmes is out in the UK on 26 December.
