Burst pipe in Los Angeles floods Sunset Boulevard

30 July 2014 Last updated at 10:33 BST

A burst water main on Los Angeles' iconic Sunset Boulevard has caused extensive flooding around the area.

A huge jet of water rose high into the air after the pipe burst, opening a five-metre-wide hole in the street.

The deluge poured into the University of California campus and fire fighters had to rescue at least five people, but some saw it as welcome respite in the hot weather.

Keith Doyle reports.
