Compton tour guide Hodari Sababu shows off city's history

30 July 2014 Last updated at 01:25 BST

The city of Compton, south of Los Angeles, has become notorious in American popular culture thanks to its prominence as a home of gangster rap.

Rappers Ice Cube and Dr Dre started their careers there in the 1980s, when the city was notorious for gang violence and drugs.

Hodari Sababu, who served 10 years in prison for armed robbery and whose stepson is rapper The Game, takes visitors from around the world on driving tours of Compton, showing off the city's colourful, if violent, past.
