Brooklyn Bridge white flags stump police

23 July 2014 Last updated at 08:19 BST

Authorities in New York are investigating who raised two large white flags on the towers of the Brooklyn Bridge early on Tuesday.

The flags briefly flew atop two towers at either end of the famous bridge in the place of two American flags, which can more usually be seen there

Police officials said they would not treat the prank as a joke or statement, and removed the flags after they were spotted by construction workers.
