US freeze: Arctic blast breaks record by affecting millions

Weather records have been broken across the US with all 50 states experiencing sub-zero temperatures.

The small town of Embarrass in Minnesota was the coldest at -18F (-37C).

The most extreme arctic blasts, blamed on a weather pattern known as the polar vortex, are said to have affected nearly 190 million people.
