US Capitol car chase in Washington ends in woman's death

A woman who rammed security gates near the White House in Washington, leading to a car chase with police, has been shot dead.

Police opened fire on her vehicle as she sped away from the scene, heading towards Capitol Hill.

A one-year-old child was rescued from the car and taken to hospital.

Police said it appeared to be an isolated incident.
