Venice Beach crash driver charged with murder

A man who allegedly killed a woman and injured 16 others as his car ploughed into them on a Los Angeles beach has been charged with murder and assault.

Nathan Louis Campbell, 38, of Colorado, could face life in prison if convicted.

He drove a car into pedestrians after steering round a vehicle barrier on to the boardwalk at Venice Beach on Saturday evening, prosecutors said.

Honeymooning Italian tourist Alice Gruppioni, 32, was struck by the Dodge Avenger and died.
