6 August 2013 Last updated at 17:38 BST

The owner of a snake which apparently killed two children says the reptile escaped from its cage through a ventilation system.

Connor and Noah Barthe, aged seven and five, were staying overnight at the apartment above the shop.

Police in the Canadian province of New Brunswick have launched a criminal probe into the deaths.

Speaking to Global News, Jean-Claude Savoie said: "I thought [the boys] were sleeping, until I saw the hole in the ceiling. Everything had fallen, and I turned the lights on and I saw this horrific scene and the snake was gone."
