Eliot Spitzer: 'I failed big time'

2 August 2013 Last updated at 01:49 BST

Eliot Spitzer, the former governor of New York who resigned after admitting he visited a prostitute, has said he knows he failed, in an advert for his campaign for New York City comptroller.

In the video, Mr Spitzer says, "Look I failed, big time. I hurt a lot of people."

New Yorkers head to the polls for party primary elections in September, and for the general election in November.
