Arizona wildfire remains out of control

2 July 2013 Last updated at 19:18 BST

Colleagues of the 19 elite firefighters who died tackling an enormous wildfire in Arizona have held a memorial for them, as the blaze continues to rage.

The fire, which started near the town of Yarnell on Friday, has destroyed more than 8,000 acres of land and at least 200 homes, forcing scores of families to flee.

Temperatures in the south-west of the US remain dangerously high, with figures of 52 degrees celsius recorded on Tuesday.

David Shukman reports from Arizona.
