US Supreme Court to rule on future of affirmative action

America's highest court is preparing to announce its decision on the future of affirmative action.

The issue was brought to the Supreme Court by 22-year-old Abigail Fisher, who claims the University of Texas unfairly discriminated against her because she is white.

US colleges are currently allowed to take a candidate's colour into account when deciding who to admit - if it increases racial diversity on campus. But the Supreme Court ruling could change that.
