Horse rescued from well at Californian ranch

A horse that fell into a well has been rescued by fire crews, veterinarians and a crane operator at a small California ranch.

Buddy the horse fell into a brick-lined well, which contained 20ft of water, when the cover gave way on Monday.

The San Rafael Fire Department was unable to lift the animal by hand, so a crane was eventually used to pull the horse to safety.

He escaped with a bruise and scrapes to his legs.
