A lion has killed a volunteer at a private big cat park near Fresno, California, officials say.

The 26-year-old woman was attacked and killed when she entered the animal's enclosure.

Fresno County Sheriff's Sgt Greg Collins said investigators were trying to determine why the worker was inside the enclosure and what might have provoked the attack.
