Newtown shootings: Minute silence

People across the United States will observe a moment of silence today, exactly one week after a gunman killed twenty children and six members of staff at a primary school in Connecticut.

20-year-old Adam Lanza carried out the attack in Newtown after killing his mother and later shot himself dead.
