Obama: 'Heal broken hearted and bind up their wounds'
US President Obama has given an emotional press briefing at the White House following the deaths of 20 children and six adults at a school in the US state of Connecticut.
Mr Obama was notified of events at the Sandy Hook Elementary School by his Homeland Security Advisor John Brennan in the Oval office at around 10.30 local time (15:30 GMT).
President Obama said he felt "overwhelming grief".
