Gay marriage: Washington same-sex couples take vows
Scores of same-sex couples in Washington State have taken their wedding vows, after a voter-approved gay marriage law came into effect.
Hundreds of gay and lesbian couples picked up their marriage licences on Thursday, but had to wait for the state's three-day waiting period before any ceremonies could take place.
Washington, Maine and Maryland are the first American states to grant marriage rights to same-sex couples.
