Hurricane Sandy: NY firefighter tells of Queens rescue
"Super-storm" Sandy has swept into the US East Coast with hurricane-force winds, bringing flooding, cutting power and claiming at least 13 lives.
The BBC's Ben Thompson in New York says it does appear as if the city's worst fears have been realised.
Fire has destroyed at least 50 homes in Queens - one firefighter described how he managed to bring 25 people to safety through chest-high flood waters.
