As large areas of the north-eastern coast of the United States prepare for the worst impact of Hurricane Sandy, Mitt Romney urged supporters in Cleveland, Ohio to spare a thought for those who are facing the storm.

The Republican presidential candidate said he knew people across America would be raising money to help those worst affected.
