Hawaii 'cautious' as earthquake-triggered tsunami hits land
Parts of Hawaii remain on alert as a tsunami triggered by a 7.7 magnitude earthquake off the west coast of Canada hits the island chain.
Wave heights of three to six feet were predicted in some areas, as "urgent action" was advised to protect lives. The first waves were reported to be up to 2.5ft (76cm) in one area.
Pamela Young, a presenter for local television station KITV, warned that although the waves may be smaller than first feared, local people remained cautious, concerned about the effect of the undercurrents.
