New York City prepares for Hurricane Sandy
Residents in states along the East Coast are braced for the arrival of Hurricane Sandy, which is set to intensify as it merges with a wintry storm from the western US.
The hurricane, which has claimed the lives of dozens of people in the Caribbean, is also forcing presidential candidates to adjust schedules and cancel events, just one week before the US elections.
