Bahamas are pounded by Hurricane Sandy

Help

Hurricane Sandy has pounded the Bahamas with battering winds and rain on Friday, sweeping over the island chain after killing 21 people across the Caribbean.

The storm is expected to strike the US late on Monday or early Tuesday somewhere along the US east coast, one week before Americans go to the polls to choose their next president.
