Panda cub birth surprises Washington zoo
A giant panda at the National Zoo in Washington DC has surprised zookeepers by giving birth after years of failed pregnancies.
Dennis Kelly, Director of the National Zoo said that they had not seen the cub alive, but that Mei Xiang was showing all the signs of having given birth, including making maternal noises.
