Gabrielle Giffords recites US pledge at convention
Former Arizona Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords led the Democratic National Convention in reciting the US pledge of allegiance on Thursday, the final night of the party nominating convention.
Ms Giffords was shot and seriously injured in January 2011 when a gunman attacked a meeting she was having with constituents near Tucson.
She decided not to seek re-election and resigned from her office in January 2012, but her recovery has been a source of inspiration to the Democrats and other Americans.
