Michelle Obama hails 'extraordinary' president
US First Lady Michelle Obama has paid tribute to her husband at the Democratic convention in Charlotte, North Carolina.
Speaking on the first night of the event she said: "I've gotten to see up close and personal what being president really looks like."
She also noted the "extraordinary privilege" of serving as first lady.
Democrats are holding their three-day nominating convention as they prepare to take on Mitt Romney and the Republicans for the White House in November.
