US economy adds 163,000 new jobs
The first Friday of the month has become a day America's politicians greet with trepidation - it's the day the jobs numbers come out for the previous month.
Employers added over 160,000 jobs last month, significantly more than economists predicted. However, the overall unemployment rate rose slightly by 0.1%.
That fact was immediately seized upon by Republican presidential candidate, Mitt Romney.
