Hundreds of people have attended a vigil in Aurora, Colorado, after the shooting rampage in the Denver suburb left 12 people dead and dozens more wounded.

Earlier, President Barack Obama visited the town and told the victims' families that all the US stood with them.

James Holmes, who is 24, is due to appear in court for the killings today.

Alistair Leithead reports.
