Police say the suspect in the Denver cinema shooting was apprehended at the scene "within a minute" of the first emergency calls being received.
More than 50 people were injured and 12 people died when the gunman opened fire inside a movie theatre during a screening of the new Batman film.
Aurora Police Chief Dan Oates said Holmes had three guns with him when he was apprehended behind the cinema, with a fourth weapon found in the building.
